The Big Three Aircraft Access
Access to the Avro Vulcan Bomber, Hawker Siddeley Nimrod, & Avro RJ85 are subject to CNAM staff availability, and are charged additionally per person, per aircraft at £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children. These charges are used specifically to assist with the restoration and upkeep of those aircraft.
Please check availability upon arrival at the museum or contact the museum beforehand.
Certain restrictions apply including the wearing of appropriate footwear and for the Vulcan only, a minimum height of 1.2 metres. Please note that access to the Avro Vulcan is via 2 staggered ladders.
Group Visits
Group visits to CNAM are organised and staffed by volunteers who are passionate about aviation and have a wealth of knowledge to share.
The museum welcomes group visits from all types of clubs, societies and informal groups as well as specialist interest organisations ranging from Paranormal Investigators to Car and Motorcycle Clubs.
Whatever type of group you have you are welcome to visit us and enjoy a great day out exploring our unique collection of military and civil aircraft and cockpit sections, together with indoor displays showcasing Norfolk’s aviation history.
Should you have any additional questions or would like to arrange a group visit please contact our Group Visit Coordinator on our contact page.
Please note that at the present time we are, unfortunately, not able to accommodate group visits from Schools or other Youth Organisations. We hope to be able to offer these types of visit again at some point in the future.
For a small additional fee (subject to change) of £3.50 per person, per aircraft, and subject to volunteer availability, pre-booked groups may have the opportunity to go inside one of the Museum’s larger aircraft; normally our Nimrod MR2 maritime patrol aircraft, Avro RJ85 Airliner or the Vulcan Cold War bomber. Access will be in small groups (Max 6 for Nimrod and RJ85, Max 4 for Vulcan) accompanied by an experienced guide who will be able to explain the aircraft and answer your questions.
Access to the Nimrod and RJ85 is by airport type passenger steps. Access to the Vulcan requires the climbing of two ladders and hence may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. Suitable foot ware must be worn when accessing the Vulcan. There is no ramp / wheelchair access to any of the aircraft.
Requests for aircraft admission should be made in the appropriate section of the Group Visit Booking Form. If this has not been requested in advance, regrettably, it may not be possible to accommodate aircraft admission “on the day”.
While onboard any of the aircraft visitors will be under the supervision of one or more experienced volunteers, who have an in-depth knowledge of the aircraft and can explain its history and operation. No unsupervised admission is permitted.
Although visits through the museum are usually self-guided, volunteers are normally available to interpret exhibits and answer questions. Personalised tours or talks can sometimes be made available by special request. These may incur a small additional charge depending on group size, and what is requested and agreed, but can often be provided at no additional cost. Our Group Visit Coordinator will be pleased to discuss any special requirements / requests prior to arranging your visit and to advise on any additional costs involved.
For car and motorcycle clubs we can usually allow vehicles to be parked under and around the aircraft in the aircraft park making for some fantastic photo opportunities.
The minimum size of group to qualify for discounted entry is normally 10 people. However, exceptions may be made in certain circumstances e.g. veterans or their families or groups with a particular connection to Norwich / Norfolk.
If you are looking to bring a group of less than 10 people, please contact our Group Visit Coordinator to discuss your specific circumstances and agree pricing.

Accessibility
All areas of the museum are accessible to disabled visitors but it should be noted the surface of the car park is gravel and the surface of the aircraft compound is grass.

Groups of 10 or more people will receive a £1 per person reduction against all normal published entrance fees applicable at the time of your visit. (Please check the admissions section of the website for current prices)
Whenever possible we will normally invoice the full cost of your visit within 48 hours following each visit. Payment by BACS (bank details are on the invoice) or by credit card over the phone will be expected within 7 days of the invoice date.
By prior agreement only, we can accept payment by cash or card (preferred) at the time of your visit. However, it will greatly speed up the entrance procedure if a single payment is made for the entire group rather than individuals paying separately. Cheques will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances, by prior agreement, and on the understanding than an additional administration fee may be charged at the discretion of the Museum Trustees. Any cheques should be made payable to ‘The City of Norwich Aviation Museum’.
Once your visit has been discussed you will be asked to complete a booking form to confirm the details. This will only be provided once we are able to agree that the date and nature of your visit are possible. This is not, however, confirmation that the visit has been accepted. Visits will not be confirmed until a completed booking form has been provided and all details contained on the form are acceptable to the Museum.
Visits During Normal Museum Opening Hours
Group visits are available, and welcome, at all times the Museum is open to the general public. We would recommend a minimum of two hours for your visit, and at least two and a half hours if planning to undertake an aircraft guided tour. Groups are, however, welcome to be on site for as long as the museum is open to the public.
Visits Outside of Normal Opening Hours Including Evenings
Visits outside of normal public opening hours are only available in exceptional circumstance, dependant on staff and volunteer availability, and will be priced on a case-by-case basis. In general, a flat rate fee will be charged rather than pricing per individual. In return visiting groups will normally have exclusive, but supervised, access to the entire museum site. The availability of the Tea Room and Shop, and access to any aircraft, will be discussed at the time a booking is made and the costs involved will be included in the flat rate charge for the visit.
If you wish to enquire about an out of hours visit, please contact our Group Visit Coordinator or the Museum Office, to discuss your requirements.
