Our Aircraft

The City of Norwich Aviation Museum is home to several different aircraft; from single engine prop aircraft to large airliners and military bombers, there is something for everyone to remember!

A detailed list of cockpit sections and airframes currently on display at the museum can be found here for reference.

Our Engines

We have an impressive display of aero engines ranging from old piston radials to modern jets including the innovative Pegasus used on the Harrier Jump Jet. Several have cutaway sections allowing you to see the internal parts.

Our Displays

The City of Norwich Aviation Museum houses several displays within its buildings.

These range from small personal accounts of those involved with aviation in and around Norfolk; to larger, interactive displays showcasing the likes of Boulton Paul, RAF Horsham St Faith, Norwich Airport, 74 Squadron and 8th Air Force operations throughout World War II.

The museum is also the official museum of 100 Group and therefore houses a large collection of memorabilia, personal accounts and photographs of personnel, its aircraft and operations.

The 100 Group collection is housed in an area called the ‘Stafford Sinclair’ Room; dedicated to all Royal Air Force 100 Group Operations.

Our Archives

Since 1977, the City of Norwich Aviation Museum has built an extensive archive of locally important history related to the various Air Bases, Personnel, Aircraft and Operations in Norfolk. The museum archive houses over 25,000 items from books, aircraft parts and models to uniforms, manuals and medals.

Donating to the City of Norwich Aviation Museum

The City of Norwich Aviation Museum is always greatful to be considered for any donations. However, it is with regret that the museum cannot take all donations offered. This is due to storage, funding and other constraints.

As a general rule, an item must be of local relevance, not duplicated within our collection or of significant value / interest to the topics covered throughout the museum. If you are still unsure, please contact the office who will be pleased to assist.

All donations will be processed in line with the museums collection development policy found here.
